Bayahibe

Bayahibe is a village of fishermen leaned out on the most beautiful coastal zone of the Dominican Republic. The founder, Juan Brito, arrived from Cuba to settle in this zone to the very remote epoch of the island. The few inhabitants lived of fishing and breeding of livestock, in the called zone the "Mountain" the tallest part of Bayahibe, the inhabitants cultivated the gardens, rich of natural sources, for his/her own daily necessities.
Not c' it was electric energy and to arrive to the city of the Roman a path was crossed of 17 Km afoot during which the Rio Chavon had to be forded. In the splendid one and neighbor island of Saona you/they were left cows, pigs and goats to pasture to the wild state, quest' island in fact it is rich of vegetation. In the period that the livestock assembled him to sell him/it to the markets, the animals they crossed to swimming the 2 km that divided them from Saona to Point the Palma.
36 years ago the first tourist investments that have changed arrived radically the life to the inhabitants of this village bringing job and comfort, but despite the progress that the tourism has brought, the inhabitants and Bayahibe still maintain the simplicity and the colors typical of the Caribbean village, many colored wood cottages, roads of beaten earth, the evening out the door of house they sit to agreeably chat to the coolness of the tropical breeze.
